Purpose of this blog

Hello Everyone,
I have such a response to my post on my other blog. I have heard from so many women who have had similar experiences-to a greater or lesser extent. With every women I come in contact with I am amazed at how many of us are out there.
Starting this blog was suggested to me and after thinking about it, I think it is needed. A single place where we can all share our stories. Share our problems. Let each other know what is working for us, and then one day help the medical community find the answer to why and hopefully help.
As I receive stories, updates, and info that I find or are given I will post them here. If you have anything to share you can email me at judeebeeforme@yahoo.com
Please become a follow if you have had, are having, or know someone who has had this problem.

The Hives are Back

So on Tues I had a small breakout of hives, on my knees and elbows. Now I don't know how random or unrelated to my postpartum hives. The truth is I'm 11 weeks pregnant, so there is a possibility its related.
The hives went away on their own, I didn't take anything since I'm not quite out of the first trimester. It
really scared me when they first showed up. Can I do this? Am I going to suffer my whole pregnancy and nursing  time with hives? Not good stuff. Well they stayed for about 2 hours and then went away on their own, never got worse than just a few on each knee.
Since then, (at this point Tues, Wed, Thurs) I've had hives, just localized to those joints. Each time they didn't last longer than a couple of hours.
I spoke to my OB. She is a new OB from my last pregnancy. I've gone throw 2 others in the mean time, that's a whole different story. This OB is wonderful, she listens and answers my questions and doesn't act like I'm an idiot. I told her about my postpartum hives and my hives now. She asked if I had PUPS during my first pregnancy- no is the answer. After listing to me and asking a few questions she express that she doesn't think these hives are PUPS or are caused by the same thing as my postpartum hives. She thinks its stress from watching children and being so sick all the time. She said we'll see how it progresses and just keep notes on it. Also she mentioned that if it gets bad I can start taking Benadryl right now (suggested I might want to take it before going to bed at night to help my sleep and since the breakouts have been in the morning). And then after next week she said I can go back on Clariton or the Zyrtec.
I'll keep ya'll posted.

  2. I started breaking out in hives everyday when my second child was 4 months old. I nursed her as well. She is now 6yrs old and it still occurs every day. I also break out in hives when pressure is applied to my skin. I have tried every cream, diet change, hypoallergenic products in my home, seen doctors and dermatologists for years nothing worked until I went and saw a chiropractor a few months ago due to back pain and he started me on a detox. I dont break out nearly as much.

  3. I go to a chiropractor about once a month regular, being pregnant I go once a week. I've never noticed any difference going. Its not doing much for me now. Our chiropractor knows about my problem. I'm glad you've found something that has helped you.

  4. hi!!! I am at my wit's end. I developed hives when my baby was four months old too. could it be PUPPS? I asked my dermatologist and he said no - I'm too many weeks post partum for it to be PUPPS. Last night i was itching so much that I tore my sheets off to look for bed bugs. None were there. So you developed the hives this many months post partum too? the hives are all over my legs and upper arms. they were under one breast too at one point. I'm itching so much on my thighs that my thighs are bruised. please help.

  5. Anonymous suffering with the 4 month old plus-
You are passed the PUPPS stage. I would go see an Allergist. An Allergist would be able to determine what might be the cause (thought skin or blood antibody testing or both), and then what would be the next best step for you (treatments, medication). Set it up as soon as possible!
In the mean time- try various antihistamines, if nursing Benadryl is the only approved medication before consulting your doctors. Benadryl also has a topical over the counter ointment that may give you relief to specific sites. Good Luck and I hope you find something soon that works for you.

  7. I have had chronic hives for 7 years and no none knew what caused them. I finally found a doctor, OBGYN who thinks he knows what is going on.

They started right after I had my daughter. I had them very mildly prior to that so mild I had no idea what they were. Very randomly they would pop out then go away. They came with a vengeance after her birth and have never left.
I was just diagnosed so I am not sure if this is the cure or not.

I have low testosterone and high progesterone. They are putting me on testosterone cream to see if it makes them stop. I will keep you posted.

Get your testosterone and progesterone tested! Doctors had no idea what was wrong with me and it turned out it wasn't my thyroid. But by going to an endo I did discover I had thyroid cancer, another story there.

So get tested for low testosterone and see if it is the answer!

I will let you know if it works!
